a poem – melbourne

This morning a poem i wrote long ago suddenly came into my head.. I wrote this when 1st visiting Melbourne (around 1999/2000), & i think my impressions of this amazing city, as described in these words were food for me eventually moving here.
Melbourne
Melbourne’s a place full of crazy creatures
dressing with style to emphasise their features
wearing their suits & dresses & denim
little short skirts & breasts that are feminine
Shoulder pads for power dressing
yeh, the lastest fashion is really impressing
swoosh, swish with style they flow
bang, crash, biff, where will they go?
Well to vinnies in a year or so
& then from there they’ll go on my body
i’m wearing old fashion that was once in for somebody
